How to Play
GammonStreak is a Backgammon web app.
Play on any device. If you are playing on a phone or tablet we recommend saving a shortcut to your home screen and playing the game in the Progressive Web App (PWA) mode.
To initiate a game with a friend, click the 'Play a Friend' button the home screen and then click the 'copy link' button and paste to your friend in your text message app.
This link will launch a web browser on your friends device. They will then be asked to save the game link onto their home screen. It will also give them the ability to copy the 5 character game code to paste into the Join a Game box on the home screen.
Once they have the app on the home screen you only need to send them 5 character code in future games and there is a button to copy this to the clipboard on the play a friend screen.
In the free to play version you can play standard Backgammon. In our Pro account there are 3 further variants to play.
On the game screen there are a few element to be aware of:
The Pip counts and who's in play carat are on the top left of the screen. These give you an indication of who is in play and who is in the lead.
You then have the game messages area which will tell you the state of play.
Then you have the turn timer. Each turn has 2 minutes on the clock. When the timer reaches 0 without you completing your turn you will forefit the game.
The burger Menu is next, which gives you a screen with various options, one of which is to extend your turn time by 5 minutes. This can only be used once during a game and is for an emergency.
There are other options in the burger menu, such as Foreit the game, Game Stats, which shows the doubles thrown and other game stats.
Then you have the player messaging button, which will allow you to send text messages to the other player. These messages are not stored once the game is finished. Please make sure your messages are appropriate for whom you are playing with.
Finally you have refresh button which will refresh the page should something get stuck. Messages will be lost if you refresh the screen as they are not stored anywhere.
